All About Classic and Flavored

Margaritas

Who doesn’t love margaritas? This mixture of tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice is the perfect combination of tart and sweet. While it is currently one of the most popular alcoholic beverages, it is a relative latecomer to the cocktail o. There are many stories of how it came to be, but it is generally believed that it got its start in the 1930s or 1940s.

More information about classic and flavored variations:

Preparing Margaritas

Whether a margarita is “classic” or flavored, it is usually prepared in the same way. The drink is made in a cocktail shaker and either shaken with ice, blended with ice, or made without ice altogether. It usually includes tequila, orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or triple sec), and lime juice. Flavored variations may include other ingredients. It is traditional to serve margaritas in a salt-rimmed cocktail glass. In addition to being shaken and served, these cocktails can also be served as a slush, also known as a frozen margarita.

Our Classic House Margarita

The classic margarita is in the sours family. The International Bartenders Association (IBA) standard mix for this drink is 50% tequila, 29% Cointreau, and 21% fresh lime juice. As an IBA official cocktail, it is one of the many cocktails this organization selects for the World Cocktail Competition.

At Guadalajara’s Grill & Tequila Bar, our House Margarita takes the classic margarita recipe to a new level. We use only the finest tequila from Guadalajara, Mexico, quality triple sec, sweet and sour, and real limes. We make our margaritas fresh, just for you. Feeling adventurous? Order a double for 32 ounces of shareable fun.

Our Flavored Margaritas

There are many ways you can add different flavors to your margarita. Adding fruit or other spirits can create a new take on this delicious drink.

A few of our favorites:

Frozen Flavors

Try a strawberry or mango frozen margarita. We use only fresh fruit instead of flavored syrup and freeze the drink to create the perfect slush.

Diablo Azul

The Diablo Azul is a combination sure to please any palate. This variation of our House Margarita adds a shot of Blue Curacao and Jose Cuervo Gold.

La Bandera

This frozen drink is great for those hot Tucson summers. This refreshing drink is a combination of the House Margarita, tangy melon-lime, and strawberry flavors. La Bandera is sure to become one of your favorite cocktails. We do not blend in ice cubes but instead freeze our margaritas to create a smooth, pure, and rich beverage.

Cadillac

Our Cadillac is a margarita with an upgrade. Not only does it include our spectacular House flavors, but it adds extra ingredients including Grand Marnier, Cointreau, and Sauza Gold Tequila.

1800 Colada

Enjoy the flavors of the tropics right here in Tucson. This drink uses coconut-infused 1800 Tequila with pineapple juice and cream of coconut. We serve this cocktail on the rocks.
